Saying 'Goodbye'

Funeral Ceremonies

My role as an independent celebrant is to help you to create an individual ceremony that helps you to commemorate the life of a loved one.  It might help to think of me as someone who is there to help guide through the process as I listen to you and also any instructions that may have been left for such an occasion.

One of the best ways to do this is for us to meet personally and I will often visit families at home or a place of their choosing in order to gather all the necessary information. As we talk together ideas start to formulate and a structure begins to appear, as this happens I will continually be listening and communicating what I hear, so that the ceremony reflects your wishes.

While I am a Christian, I lead both Religious and Non-Religious ceremonies and will listen to you as we plan the ceremony together. If needed I can help with you to choose poetry, readings and songs or hymns for the ceremony. Depending on your preference, readings from the Bible and prayers can also be included.

When it comes to reflecting on the life of the deceased I will be there every step of the way. If you want to write the a tribute yourself, I can offer support and guidance and will be by your side if you choose to read this on the day. Alternatively you may like to share memories with me so that I can write and deliver this on the day.

It is important for me that you know I am there to support you to say 'goodbye' in the way that you want to. Sometimes families have ideas and aren't sure what the person leading the service may think, leaving a Crematorium to 'Bat Out of Hell' by Meatloaf isn't everyone's choice, but if this reflects the person we are there to remember, then let's work together to craft a memorable and fitting 'goodbye'.

When working with me please be assured that I am only a phone call away and am here to support you every step of the way so that you can say goodbye to your loved one.

Family Memorials or Celebration of Life Ceremonies

For various reasons you may be considering a direct cremation and still want an opportunity to gather with family and friends to say 'goodbye'. In this instance I offer Memorial Services and Celebrations of Life as a way for families to gather together and share about the loved one they have lost.

While similar, there are subtle difference between the two which I discuss in my detailed 'Guide to Funeral Alternatives' please visit my detailed guide.

These can be extremely flexible to suit you and the family, for some this may be at home, a village hall, private venue or a local pub. Whatever your thoughts I am available to help you and the family say goodbye.

Call me for further information and a free informal chat about your thoughts.
